Description de "SuperVan and I: The memoirs of South Africa's greatest driver . . . and his alter ego"

Sarel van der Merwe is a certified, card-carrying racing legend the Clint Eastwood of South African motor sport. Since he and his moustache have been racing, Sarel has been super-competitive, scratching paint off race cars from Kyalami to Daytona. In this book, he reveals the skinny behind all his big rivalries, his run-ins with team owners, racing in the United States when South African sportsmen were not all that welcome and his colorful disagreements with motor-sport authorities. And, of course, there have been the women. 'Sex is like motor sport,' Sarel says. Though you'll have to read the book to find out why. The word 'maverick' probably bests describes Sarel van der Merwe. Not only is he the most gifted driver ever to come out of this country, winning off-road and on the track, but he's been utterly uncompromising in his approach. And he's certainly pissed some people off. It is a rip-roaring read, from the iconic cars he has driven to the many women who have spiced up his life. Best of all, Sarel doesn't give a flying expletive about spilling the beans. He also focuses on racing in the United States, including the Daytona and other hugely popular races, and the colorful characters in motor racing that achieved iconic status in America.
