The Road of the Kasbahs portrays the intertwined paths of history and geography. The collection of the photos which are included in this volume bears witness to the exceptional creativity of the region’s population in constructing their dwellings. The road of the kasbahs will soon be seen as a kind of open air museum, as a living witness to the past and as an expression of the people’s way of living. The contract between old and new photographs of the region, along with short commentaries on each picture, demonstrates for the reader to what extent the settlement structure and cultural activities still exist and how much they belong to the past.
